This is the second time that Dean and Laura Larson have come together in a collaborative photography exhibit at the historic Fine Arts Building. In March of 2017 an essay written in Entropy Magazine by poet and essayist, Will Alexander stated that, “Laura's hybrid animal beings seamlessly inhabit her photographic interiors while Dean's photographic exterior scapes combine as a mellifluous collaboration. An oneric harmony if you will, presenting in this case a collective document of their travels in France.”
In this iteration of a Journey In Time: Part 2, the Larson’s have merged their photographic vision – fully collaborating on each image. The journey itself continues to reference French culture but shifts the emphasis to America via our own cultural institutions. All the while these animal/human hybrid creatures continue to journey through time. From last year’s image of the creatures coming together in “Roll Call,” to this year’s image of the formation of the Council of 7 (CO7) – consisting of an ambassador from each of the seven continents – there seems to be more of a sense of urgency. Their concern is for the future of animal life on our planet. They will continue to gather and confer in the future, stopping at various locations to assess our progress, advocating for all species – including the human kind.
