Cherish
This installation, "CHERISH" was shown at the Los Angeles Art Association, Los Angeles, California in 2014.
What does it mean to cherish? How do we revere nature? Who do we hold in high esteem? Do we have a natural affection for all of creation? When will we achieve the balance between conservation and consumption? “Cherish” explores these questions within the context of myth, magic and mystery. In this museum-like setting with richly painted walls, the objects and images in my installation represent what sustains our daily life (caring relationships, sleeping/dreaming, eating, clothing, imagination/stories), but use allusion, metaphor and scale to emphasize current values. I ponder the question of authentic historic preservation and wonder what we will attach importance to in the future.
